George Lewis Bullock, the fifteenth and last of Benjamin's children, is at once intriguing and sad. He was born to Benjamin and Phebe Lewis on May 4, 1844 and was baptized on May 14, 1844 at Clarenceville Methodist. View the first baptismal record here. On January 30, 1846, his father, Benjamin, passed away. On December 19, 1849, his mother passed away. At the age of five years, he was an orphan, the youngest of seven children, with James Owen being the eldest at 21 years. By 1860, all of this second family of Benjamin Bullock and Phebe Lewis had left Clarenceville.

At the age of five years, he was taken in by a Benjamin Reynolds to be looked after. You can view the 1860 Vermont Census here showing George Lewis as part of this family.

George Lewis Bullock married Lovisa Ann McGregor of Irona or Ellenburgh, New York. We don't have a marriage date but it probably would have been before 1874 when their first child, Morillo Charles, was born. In the 1950 obituary for Myrtie May Bullis, Morillo Charles's wife, it states that Morillo Charles Reynolds was born in Altona, NY. This indicates that George Lewis probably married Gracie May Lovisa McGregor in Altona, NY and had taken the name Reynolds by the time he was married.

George Lewis and Lovisa had a total of eleven children with one dying at birth. Except for the first, Morillo Charles, the remainder were born in Stanstead, QC. This would lead us to believe that the couple had moved to Stanstead by 1878 when their second child, Gracie May Reynolds, was born. In March of 1888, they had six children and they were all baptized at Stanstead Plains Methodist Church. At that service, at the age of almost 44 years, George Lewis underwent a second baptism at which he formally changed his name from Bullock to Reynolds and became George Lewis Reynolds. View the second baptismal record here. His five children baptized at that service were baptized as Reynolds. The children born later also had the name Reynolds.

Some of the Reynolds family remained in Graniteville, married, had children and have descendants still in Graniteville. A number of others moved to Massachusetts where the descendants live today. One moved to Connecticut but had no children. It is interesting to realize that many descendants of George Lewis (Bullock) Reynolds may not be aware of their Bullock heritage. The headstone for George Lewis Reynolds and Lovisa McGregor is found at Marlington Cemetery near Graniteville and Stanstead, QC.
