Who Is Daniel Bullock?
Daniel, along with sister Sarah "Sally," are two children of Benjamin Bullock and Hannah Danford about whom we know almost nothing. We only discover they exist when their names show up as beneficiaries in their father, Benjamin's, will. They are also mentioned in an 1853 petition by their brother, John, related to land jointly owned by a number of relatives including Daniel and Sarah. In the petition, Daniel is listed among those who are said to have been
"...absent from the Province of Canada and are either in the United States of America or are in parts unknown and have been so absent for the last ten years and more."
DNA Clues Pointing Us To The Identity of Daniel Bullock
I was contacted by Rose, a person researching her family history, to inquire about Daniel and indicating that she thought she was connected to the family of Benjamin Bullock through Daniel.
This is her story:
1. Rose's great-grandmother, Elizabeth, was married to Thomas Quinn. They can be found in the 1871 census (Ontario, West Durham, Township of Cartwright) with their daughter, Mary Jane, Rose's grandmother. Rose does not know her great-grandmother, Elizabeth"s, maiden name.
2. Rose and her siblings have done the Ancestry DNA test. They came up a very high 3rd cousin match with kcdjohn's Clarke Family Tree. Looking at this tree, Rose found that the best possible match in this tree would be great-grandparents Daniel David Bullock and Levina Goheen with daughters named Elizabeth and Harriet.
3. In the 1871 census, the names following her great-grandparents, Thomas Quinn and Elizabeth, are Andrew and Harriet Dean. Based on the ages and the fact they are live beside each other, Rose thinks it is a good possibility that Elizabeth and Harriet are sisters, the daughters of Daniel Bullock and Levina Goheen.
4. One of the other trees to which to which Rose and her siblings have a strong connection is Tamerlouie's Dithlefsen-Berenyui Family which has Bullocks (Emery Bullock) who are definitely descendants of Benjamin Bullock

Additional Clues Pointing Us To The Identity of Daniel Bullock
5. Rose also has a DNA match to kacampbell73 who does not have a tree on Ancestry but has confirmed in an email to her that his great grandfather, Daniel Campbell, married Margaret Alice Bullock (born Jun 24, 1852 in Quebec). Margaret Alice Bullock is also a descendant of Benjamin Bullock.
6. Most recently, Rose was given another connections to a family tree containing the name Guderian. This family too is descended from Jane "Jennie" Bullock, Benjamin's daughter.
Conclusions About Daniel
In many of the matches Rose has received, the common elements in the trees are descendants of Benjamin Bullock. This makes it a strong possibility that the Daniel Bullock married to Levina Goheen is the son of Benjamin Bullock. Benjamin had a son named Daniel. He was mentioned in Benjamin's will in 1845. He wasn't in Clarenceville with Benjamin and his family. We don't know where he was. Given the DNA results, it is a good possibility that the Daniel Bullock married to Levina Goheen is Benjamin Bullock's son.
In order to make an actual connection, we need more information about Daniel Bullock. A marriage record for Daniel and Levina Goheen might give us the name of his parents. Birth, marriage or death records of their children might provide clues. Please contact me if you have anything which might help us further our knowledge of these families.
